Many testimonies from people suffering this disorder suggest a trauma or a situation of lasting stress as the origin of the problem. Many others indicate drugs, in particular smoking weed/cannabis as the trigger of a DP/DR stroke.
The duration of this situation is undetermined. Brain is a very complex organ. It will depend on the determination to solve the problem actively, through exercises.
This disorder is frustrating due to the fact that even when the reasons which motivated the DP/DR attack have disappeared the brain does not come back to a normal state by itself, different symptoms as irreality and confusion about personality can last many time: months, years, decades,...
If you simply do nothing about it, in the worst case will become a permanent state.
So, it is crucial to make everyday the proposed exercises to reduce the time of recovery and bring back to a normal life.
